What Is Heritage?
The word heritage is best illustrated by the Filipino word "pamana" - an inheritance. It is everything that forms part of our identity as a people. Things very valuable that it is handed down from generation to generation.
Dr. Fernando N. Zialcita, who teaches at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the Ateneo de Manila University and heads its Cultural Heritage Studies Program defines heritage as:
"All the beliefs, values, practices and objects that give a place its own specific character. Practices can refer to rituals and ceremonies. Objects can either be intangible, such as epics, or tangible such as furniture. Tangible objects can either be manmade, such as buildings, or natural such as a revered landscape. Tangible objects can also be either movable, such as paintings, or non-movable such as buildings, locations and streets."
Here at Pogi Shirts, we describe these things as "POGI" -- a term we normally use to describe things positive in a person. Indeed, our heritage is too POGI it doesn't deserve to be hidden in our proverbial "baul". That's why at Pogi Shirts we bring heritage out of your baul!
